We are holding a “Kingpin 3 from 4 Junior Doubles Tournament” which will be held over three weekends in October 2011.  The dates are as follows:

• Sat/Sun 15th/16th
• Sat/Sun 22nd/23rd
• Sat/Sun 29th/30th

This will be a Junior handicap team event and teams will bowl four team games then drop their lowest team game to give a total score with handicap.

It is anticipated that the first prize will be in excess of £500 (based on 50 teams).  We have tried to keep the entry fee costs down and also kept the event as a re-entry event.

We will be hosting another “Try Before You Buy” day with Storm Bowling probably on the first Wednesday in November.  The event will run from the afternoon to early evening.  It will be a great opportunity to try out  a selection of different Storm bowling balls on the lanes at AMF Bowling Hull.

For those who didn’t get the opportunity to come to the last one:

• Its a great try before you buy day
• You get the opportunity to try out predrilled bowling balls out on the lanes
• There is no obligation to buy, but there are usually discounts on the day

The last event was very well attended and most bowlers received great free advice from the American Bowler and Storm representative, Pete Somoff who is intending to be at AMF Hull once again.

Once the date and time has been confirmed, the site will be updated with the full details.

Last year we held a USBC Bronze Coaching course and we are looking to do the same this year.  The date has now been confirmed as 13th and 14th August 2011 and the course will be held at:

This 2 day conference is an intermediate level of training and certification designed to increase your coaching skills and professionalism.

The Bronze certification conference focuses on coaching fundamentals and covers:

• Pedagogy of coaching
• Fine tuning the physical game
• Lane conditions and adjustments
• The mental game
• Components of the bowling ball
• Dynamics of ball motion
• Videotaping
• Video analysis
• Giving a lesson

Prerequisite: Successful completion of USBC Level One (can be completed online at www.bowl.com)

Course fee (which includes all study materials in PDF format): £199
Study materials will be posted on receipt of full payment

King Pin Pro Shop in conjunction with Bowltech UK will be holding another try before you buy day.  It is a free event and will be held at AMF Hull, Oslo Road, Hull on Saturday 18th September between 10am and 2.30 pm.  We have been quite fortunate in being able to hold the event on a Saturday as they are usually held during the week.

There will be a good selection of reactive bowling balls available for trial from the following manufacturers:

Ebonite
Columbia
Hammer
Track

There will be a few balls of each model (usually of weights 14 and 15lbs) which are predrilled with different spans.  Interchangeable thumbs are used, and inserts are changed to get as close to the bowlers span and fit as possible.  Bowlers can then try out the balls on the lanes.  It’s a great way to see what equipment suits your game!

As there will be a a limited number of lanes available, trial of this equipment will be available in time slots.  Anyone who is interested in attending should guarantee a trial slot with Steve.

In aid of Leukaemia Research, Alzheimer’s Society and Guide Dogs, Katie Jowsey and I have organised a Tenpin Bowling Tournament.

EVERYONE CAN TAKE PART
It is Tenpin Bowling Tournament for both Sport Bowlers and Recreational Bowlers which has divisions for the under 10 year olds, the 11 to 17 year olds and the 17 years plus age groups, with or without the abilities to bowl.

IT IS A NOT FOR PROFIT EVENT
The Tournament entry fee, minus the lane and minimal printing costs, will all be divided equally between the three charities. We hope to raise in excess of £6000 over the whole weekend.

IN MEMORY OR CELEBRATION?
As 2010 is the 50th Birthday of Leukaemia Research as well as being 50 years since the first Bowling Centre was opened in the UK, we hope lots of people will come along and support this event, in celebration of tenpin bowling and also in memory of others who may no longer be with us.

PRIZES FOR THE BEST SCORES.
In recognition of the best scores, many businesses have already donated prizes. From Gym Membership to Tenpin Bowling equipment, tickets to THE DEEP, signed Hull FC shirt……….

A FREE event for bowlers of all abilities.

On the 24th of February from 10am until 5pm, Storm will be showcasing some of their newest reactive bowling balls and will be giving advice on all aspects of the products available.

This event is being run in conjunction with the King Pin Pro Shop Hull and Bowltech.

Whether you are a keen bowler or an absolute beginner and have questions about anything regarding this sport, you simply cannot and must not miss this day!

This event is open to all and is FREE, please invite all of your friends and and pass this on.

The bigger we make this now, it will be more likely to happen again in the future.
